How your visit works

No matter what the weather, a trip to the Dinosaurier Museum is definitely worth it! It is an ideal change from everyday life and is ideal for family trips!

Arrival

Forest adventure trail

What was it like when pterosaurs, land dinosaurs and marine reptiles populated the earth? What happened that the dinosaurs became extinct? On the 1.5 km long adventure trail of the Dinosaurier Museum, you embark on an exciting journey through the different geological ages and immerse yourself in 400 million years of evolutionary history. The over 70 life-size replicas give you the feeling of being part of prehistory yourself. You can not only look at the mighty Brachiosaurus, the giant Diplodocus or the dangerous T. rex, but also touch them and learn to understand the well-founded scientific findings about the prehistoric giants up close.

The trail takes about 1.5 hours without breaks.

Museum hall

The air-conditioned Museum Hall showcases fossils and original skeletons, including world sensations such as the oldest Archaeopteryx.

Hands-on

Knowledge is also conveyed in the Dinosaurier Museum through active experience. You can experience the work of paleontologists by, for example, preparing fossils yourself or searching for millions of years old shark teeth. The hands-on stations invite you to compare your own ideas of how big, how fast or how strong the dinosaurs were with your own skills. Whether it’s a race or touching a dinosaur bone – knowledge about the time from the Paleozoic to today grows with every area you experience with us.

The hands-on activities cost extra and usually take 30 to 60 minutes. The fossil field is not covered and opens only in dry weather.

Break & play

If you need a refreshment after the exciting encounters with the prehistoric giants and the millions of years old fossils, you can get it in the beautiful nature in the restaurant by the lake or in the cozy forest beer garden. We offer our guests organic dishes. Vegetarian and vegan alternatives are of course available. If you have any food intolerances or allergies, please contact us. Playgrounds within sight of the restaurant delight children of all ages, while adults can relax and enjoy their break.
